Banana Bend in 1989

Banana Bend, 1989 By 1989, Sand dredging on the San Jac had been stopped by efforts of the San Jacinto River Association as well as the Banana Bend Civic Association. That however had not stopped Open pit sand miners from turning the surrounding forests into pockmarked moonscapes. Nor had it made the dredgers remove their junked out barges, several of which can be seen in this photo, parked on the peninsula on the left side of the lake.
