Banana Bend in 1953

In 1953, Banana Bend was still an undeveloped area with only pipelines cutting through the wild forests of the area. Several new roads are shown here. They were mostly in place to take advantage of the Sand mining that was still going full bore in "Parker's Hole". As you can see, a road was cut into the area under the "304" to remove sand by crane and truck. Sand was still being dredged and loaded onto barges. The beginnings of the lagoon that would later form a large lake, are clearly seen here.
